Rakia is Bulgaria’s national spirit, tasting somewhere between whisky and a fruity brandy. Here in a secret distillery in a village in the Balkan Mountains, I’m learning how to make my own… over the course of 14 hours we managed to produce 40 litres of apple Rakia, weighing in at roughly 60% alcohol!
The Tipsy Nomads: Darmon from The Bohemian Blog has sent us in this great action shot of alcohol in the making. Very unusual and interesting and I love it. Thanks for taking the time to send it in. If you are looking for a blog that is a bit different, check out Darmon’s site. He went to Australia and spent 5 weeks exploring underground tunnels and drains! Some great pictures there as well.
Katie McGrain has sent in a great picture.
She writes : My family took a drinking trip to Dublin in March 2012. My siblings, parents and I spent 2 days literally drinking our way through Dublin. We drank beer for breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner and dessert. It was fantastic. This is my sister and I at the top of the Guinness Brewery enjoying our very first Irish Guinness. I was too excited I couldn’t even wait to pose for a picture. Disclaimer: Drinking a Guinness in Ireland is like drinking a milkshake. No other places beer compares!

Jenny from Jenny RTW has sent in a picture from Amsterdam.
She is drinking (or rather slurping) Jenever, a Dutch Gin.
Traditionally they fill the little glasses so full that you can’t pick them up from the bar without spilling them.
So everybody has to lean down and slurp the first sip, it’s really fun!
Thanks for the Picture Jenny, you sure do have a knack for finding bizarre drinks wherever you go.
Bacardi and Coke at Republiq super club. Celebrating her 26th Birthday.
